  2. Namaskaram,
I am trying to gather information about my ancestral Guru Vayath Swamy aka Ponmadathil Bramashri Krishna Swamiggal aka Kannan Gurukkal (Birth 1855-Samadhi 1942).

I am trying to gather information with the objective of preserving and propogation of his achievements, stature as a Guru, sadhaka & philosopher from Kannur Thiyya community.

He was a Guru, Sanskrit Scholar, Devi Upasakan, Social Reformer, Siddha Vaidyar and healer of bites from toxic/ venomous snakes, Naga worshipper and Rehabilitator.

He belonged to Thiyya community of Kannur but was consulted by higher caste scholars and rulers such as Chirrakkal Raja and Arrakkal family. He is also said to have traveled / spent part of his life in to Palakkad Agraharam and Sringeri. He had abilities for punarsthapana of Kavus and Naga tharas. There are many miraculous stories associated with him..there were also many popular folk songs especially sung by the Mukuwar or fisher community around Azhikode, Azhikkal, Meen Kinnu, Payyambalam etc. He was accompanied by vadiyakkar whenever he traveled announcing his movements and travel.

Author of few books including granthas and books one of them Viveka Kumhi, had set up two Madom in Azhikode Kannur and Kalpathy Palakkad. He is said to have performed some Naga shanthi , energy balancing karmas at Kannathur Aaroodam and Kavu and Andaloor Kaavu Dharmadam. He rehabiltated many Nagas from distant places around his tharvaad in small tharas in Vayath house in Vangathvayal, Azhikode. He

It is said his notes inspired Sukumaran Azhikode who wrote Tatvamasi which won him Sahiteya Akademi award. Sukumaran was Guru''s follower and had borrowed Guru's notes. T K Kumaran was another teacher who along with other local teachers gathered to take the responsibility of publishing this Guru's atma charitra but that attempt fizzled out.

He is said to have had a Sanskrit printing press in Kalpathy Palakkad in early 20th century, had married an Antarjanam lady from Palakkad and brought her back to Kannur

His family matrilineal name is Vayath Narikutty and I am his 6th gen matrilineal line from one of his sister's.

I have photographed about 1600+ handwritten palm leaflets of Guru ie three granthas on Ayurveda, Devi Upasana and His philosophy..

He had written several books, 3 books written by him
    1. Bhashya Hrudayam
    2. Vivekha Kumhi
    3. Pachaka Vidhi
Is said to have inspired Vagbhatananda ji

In order to digitalize I need to write some foreword but most precious generation who knew about him are gone. Plus we were very poor in concepts of recording and saving history, hence no written books or records available with present caretakers of the Azhikode Madom except the three handwritten palm 'thali olla' granthas or texts with 1600 + leaflets 24" by 2" which is brought out only during Dusshera puja and kept on peedom during Homam time .
Homa is done in Vangathvayal Azhikode on Kanhi 26 ie Oct 10 this time which I was fortunate to attend.. Devi pratyakshapettu diwasam.

I found his name in 3 or 4 very old historical references books on Malabar Guru's which had only one line references to him that he was a renowned sanskrit scholar and Guru and had inspired Vagbhatananda ji.

I saw 3 or 4 reference a few words in book online on Swami Vivekananda by Paramahamsa Mission press and in a blogpost on Vagbhatananda ji. Other than this no clues.

Any references books / notes / people / contact details who may know about him is welcome.
